When 1.5.2.1 was released in February 2013, the implementation of lua gave users the ability to create maps with more complex goals. 1.3 allowed mapmakers greater control by allowing them to make the Recycler the only unit of critical importance, and allowed further customisation using the mission timer. Originally, the goal of Instant Action missions was to destroy all opposing enemy units and structures on the map, though some more complex missions used trickery like re-targeting off-map turrets to work around this to create more complex goals. The design of Instant Action maps varies widely some start the player with a Recycler and others do not, while some missions even start the player on foot. User Mission 1 remained the only officially released Instant Action map until the release of Battle Grounds later the same year. I hope this helped you guys with your understanding of this game.Instant Action did not appear in Battlezone until the release of User Mission 1 around a month after its release. You should never have a pitched final battle to try and destroy the enemy base, it should always be a simple matter of cleaning up the scouts and sentries they built after your bomber and assault tanks have wiped out everything else from long range. The entire strategy in this game is to defeat the enemy in detail: deny them resources, destroy anything you can find, and then when you have overwhelming superiority march into their base and destroy whats left. However if you contain the enemy to a single pool of scrap they cannot build anything effective. The more scrap pools they have, the faster they can buil because they aren't waiting through the green scrap time. Follow me on this, a Scion team needs access to at least 2 scrap pools to be able to build good units like upgraded warriors, maulers, and gun spires. The main thing I have found that a lot of people don't get is that it's not necessarily about having enough scrap to build, its about making sure the enemy doesn't have enough scrap. I have played this game since the early 2000's and I can consistently beat the AI on max settings so let me share some knowledge I have learned. The scions are good at hitting hard, but they are worse on the defensive and getting a strong defence up early pretty much means you need to be on the offensive. try playing as isdf first untill you feel a bit more comfortable with the game. Once the recycler is down the AI can not build scavengers any more so target those and depribe the AI of any income untill it has an empty base you could take a picknick before you take out the factory and achieve victory. Remember, you only need to destroy the recycler (at first at least). If you cant grind the AI to death your force will eventually be so big you should be able to simply overwelm the AI. Keep building your force, potentially get an Atank to the front with some service trucks to damage the AI base and take down some guntowers. Once the AI is down to 1 pool it can not build heavy units anymore (not all maps allow you to squeeze the AI to only have 1 pool). Build up your force and as you feel more comfortable to leave your base, start taking out the AI's deployed scavengers, try to deploy your own. Now you will continuelly need to replace lost scavengers, and ALWAYS keep 1 or 2 roaming around collection loose scrap. Your base will be pretty much safe now if you play vs regular AI on regular difficulties. Upgrade your basepool(s) and build some assault tanks of your own, park them near the guntower in front of your base. They will likely go after your pools (deployed scavengers), replace them after you killed the attackers (bait them and drag them into range of your turrets if you can not take them yourself).īuild a constructor and get at least 1 guntower in front of your base, preferably in such a position where it is placed somewhat around a corner (so assault tanks can not take it out from range). The first AI attack will take a few minutes and only uses scouts with perhaps a random tank. Get 2 turrets out and keep them around you recy. Get at least half the pools that are on the map before you build anything beyond scavengers.
